An initiative aimed at raising awareness of the social, political, and cultural effects that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on communities. The exhibition and campaign publicly highlight the major role that creativity, imagination, and storytelling play during times of uncertainty and upheaval, while supporting artists in exile.
The artworks in the exhibition all take the form of a poster and stem from two separate initiatives: An open call by coculture, a Berlin-based non-profit cultural organisation, inviting Syrian artists in diaspora to create a dialogue-based artwork reacting to the pandemic, and the Artist Training Program by the UdK Berlin Career College, working with artists in exile.
Alongside the exhibition at the UdK Berlin demonstration KUNST RAUM STADT, coculture and UdK are presenting the posters in a Berlin city campaign, where they will be distributed among volunteers and hung throughout the city in spaces that are visible to the public (e.g. windows, balconies, billboards, walls, etc.).
