Independent Space Index is an initiative of Viennese independent spaces, aimed at increasing the visibility of independent artistic production, strengthening solidarity among like-minded cultural initiatives, and highlighting their contribution to the Viennese art scene. The network and its festival have been the largest joint endeavor of independent art spaces in Vienna since its founding and first festival edition in 2018.
During the festival, all participating spaces will collectively open their doors for three days from 2 pm to 6 pm, inviting visitors to explore a diverse range of freely accessible exhibitions, accompanied by a rich program of special events and exhibition openings. This format creates a unique opportunity to experience Vienna’s art scene, in an intimate manner, at the locations directly involved with artistic production.
