1303 artists and 890 additional contributors A publication and exhibition project featuring performances, concerts, guided tours, and a panel discussion on the relevance of art associations (Kunstvereine) today.
The Kunstverein Tiergarten is turning 20! To celebrate this anniversary, a special publication and exhibition project has been planned that will bring together the names of all 2193 people and institutions that have actively participated in exhibitions and events at Galerie Nord over the past two decades.
RE:VISION celebrates the Kunstverein Tiergarten as a living organism and network of local, national, and international partners that promotes the synergy of thoughts, initiatives, and resources, as well as the circulation of people and ideas. The visitors can expect an immersive, participatory installation that will continue to evolve in an uncontrollable way from a curatorial perspective - resulting in an exhibition with a completely new appearance that shall emerge at the end.
The exhibition is based on the complete edition of the publication RE:VISION which is presented in an installation by Berlin based artist Marten Schech. Each exhibited book is an archive, time document, and exhibition object in one. During the course of the exhibition, the artists are invited to take an exhibited copy of the book in exchange for an artwork on loan. And while sculptures, paintings, collages, prints, video works, etc. move into dialogue, visitors are equally invited to actively influence the exhibition by flipping through the books. By flipping the pages and allowing the numerous participants to temporarily appear and disappear, they will recombine countless variations of asynchronous moments from the 20-year history of the Kunstverein. During the course of the exhibition, the installation continues to morph until, by its conclusion, it will have taken on an entirely new appearance.
520 artists responded to the Kunstverein‘s call to submit images of their artistic work for the book‘s image section. The graphic concept was developed by Studio Karpstein.
The publication and exhibition project RE:VISION is a thank you to all those who have worked in front of and behind the scenes, supported and funded projects, shown their commitment, and worked in a variety of ways to maintain the Kunstverein Tiergarten and thus contributed to its reputation.
Performances, concerts, guided tours and a discussion on the relevance of art associations are planned for the duration of the exhibition.
