From “How to Make a Basket”.

  • Jazz Money
is a Wiradjuri poet and artist currently based on Gadigal land in Sydney, Australia. Her practice is centered around the written word while producing works that encompass installation, performance, digital, film and print. Jazz’s award-winning debut poetry collection is ‘how to make a basket’ (UQP, 2021).

Through her writing Jazz Money excavates layers of memory and understanding - as a First Nations person, a queer person, and as someone who is skeptical about imperial imported western narratives imposed upon Australia. She explores how places and bodies hold memories, and the ways our ancestors walk with us, speak through us and wait for us.
