Art in the Underground 2024/25: flexen, flirren, fantasieren – mapping the queer city invites artists to explore the freedom of movement of different populations and to suggest artistic interventions that reflect current socio-political developments. Projects are to be developed for one or more locations along the U2 (underground) line specified in the call for submissions (Nollendorfplatz, Bülowstrasse, Schönhauser Allee). The art works should as far as possible be located underground in the station itself and/or above ground near the station. In the stations and underground trains, media forms are limited to large-scale floor stickers, large billboards on the walls behind the tracks, and the Berliner Fenster (passenger television network). All media and formats are permitted above ground. Hybrid forms that make use of both physical and virtual public space are also welcome.

Kunst im Untergrund 2024/25: flexen, flirren, fantasieren – mapping the queer city lädt Künstler*innen ein, sich mit der Bewegungsfreiheit unterschiedlicher Bevölkerungsgruppen zu beschäftigen und künstlerische Vorschläge einzureichen, die aktuelle sozialpolitische Entwicklungen reflektieren. Die Entwürfe sollen für einen oder mehrere in der Auslobung genannten Standorte entlang der U2 (Nollendorfplatz, Bülowstraße, Schönhauser Allee) entwickelt werden. Dabei sollen sich die künstlerischen Arbeiten nach Möglichkeit unterirdisch im U-Bahnhof sowie oberirdisch in der Nähe des U-Bahnhofs wiederfinden. Die in den U-Bahnhöfen und der U-Bahn nutzbaren Medien sind Bodenfolien, Hintergleisflächen (große Plakate hinter den Gleisen) sowie das Berliner Fenster (Fahrgastfernsehen in den U-Bahnen). Oberirdisch sind alle Medien und Formate zugelassen. Hybride Formen, die sich sowohl im physischen als auch im virtuellen öffentlichen Raum verorten, sind ebenso erwünscht.
