Dear funky folks,

THIS IS ABOUT DECISIONS AND HOW WE CAN TAKE THEM VORTEXING OR RATHER DON’T TAKE THEM AT ALL.

More than ever we are asked, from the urges of our very times, to acknowledge the responsibility of choosing to either passively inherit decisions or collect and repurpose them. In doing so we will accomplish a fundamental task: trace our desires, the very first source of them.

Often our precarious lives, marked by complex circumstances, limited time and resources reduce us, decision makers, to a state of “bounded rationality”, nothing more distant to emotional impulses. On the other hand we have such little to cling on, we have already trashed morality, fairness or other pretty sovereign values. WE NEED TO LEARN EVERYTHING FROM THE SCRATCH, nonetheless we are asked from those who sing the revolution, to be determined and to know what we want all the time.

Even those cool bebes of the Invisible Committee named determination as the quality required in order to take action and change the time of the Now (the only possible space of movement), and they write black on withe this affirmation:

“THE EPOCH BELONG TO THE DETERMINED.”

and although they always advocate for the many, we genuinely felt a bit heartbroken.

We felt so EXCLUDED from the EPOCH, and rightly from this displacement we want to make a point.

It’s true, WE CAN’T RELATE (once again!!), no way can we be determined, as we kiss each other between the romanticism of unpaid lunch breaks and the turmoil of our emotions. Self-definition interests us not too much; how can we identify ourselves with determination?

But during our tormented beauty sleep, removing the guilt of not being determined we realized that we ain’t IRRESOLUTE either,

we are FUGITIVE.

Every time our desires are in becoming and we don’t need to decide beforehand. We realized we don’t believe, nor care about this exclusive dichotomy which dictates how we should approach, who is in and who is out of, the duty of change.

Because we don’t comply and we don’t want to be traced or followed, especially now that predictability is a financial weapon turned against us. Rather we claim and dance with behaviours and decisions that, silent, undetectable CAN’T BE SURVEILLED.

We shape our path to joy, solid in our will to make it crispy and complex, touched by dreams and  fostered by the fugitiveness of life. And all in love with differences and training to avoid repetition we would claim that: “Destiny never consists in step-by-step deterministic relations between presents which succeed one another according to the order of a represented time. Rather, it implies between successive presents non-localisable connections, actions at a distance, systems of replay, resonance and echoes, objective chances, signs, signals, and roles which transcend spatial locations and temporal successions.”―

OH mother nature shall bless Gilles Deleuze in Difference and Repetition!

Our patterns, similar to the vortex or the trajectory of a falling feather, often lead us somewhere cozy, funny and above all community oriented.

Indeed we impose ourselves one only code of conduct: ENSURE TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR MORE THAN OUR ONLY SELF AND ENLARGE THE HOLD OF OUR DESIRES.

But could you tell us how you handle decisions?

Would you share your wicked desires?

Who and what do you think first when you need to make a decision? Who and what are your decisions benefitting? Would you long dwell on your options before deciding, are you impulsive, would you choose a bit every day, would you passively wait until you are chosen, or would you avoid to decide entirely?

We have a tool to assist you in and through the process of fugitive decision making. It used to be an artwork designed as a card deck by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt, now OBLIQUE STRATEGIES is an analogic, but encouraging website, where you can collect suggestions in order to queer a bit the process.

Further this chapter highlights the path to joy undertaken by our friends Biological Tranny, a project that celebrates the beauty of trans and non-binary bodies. A music and visual project that transcreates the stories of trans identities, the difficulties, struggles, resilience and empowerment.
